Bolton Priory traceryThe ornamental intersecting work in the upper part of a window, screen, or panel, or used decoratively in blank arches and vaults.  The pattern formed by the branching mullions in the upper sections of a Gothic window.

linenfold - ray smithDecorative motif (Gothic) in the form of a folded piece of linen cloth – usually carved in low relief.

An ornamental motif consisting of a square, four-leafed figure, the center of which projects in a point. It was very popular in Early Gothic architecture.

Arch - Ogee A Gothic arch with a pointed apex, formed by the intersection of two S curves usually confined to decoration and not used in arcades because of the lack of structural integrity. . It can be used in single arch applications, however, and be structurally sound.

Arch - Lancet Arco A Gothic or pointed arch, like a lance. Usually used in multiples, but not always.
