An architectural element formed by the extrusion of a single curve (or pair of curves, in the case of a pointed barrel vault) along a given distance. The barrel vault is the simplest form of a vault which uses a series of arches placed side by side, one after another. The curves are typically circular in shape, lending a semi-cylindrical appearance to the total design. Similar to barrel vault.

The intersection of two or three barrel vaults when they are edged with piped masonry often carved in decorative patterns.
A vault produced by the intersection at right angles of two barrel vaults. Sometimes the arches of groin vaults are pointed instead of round and the vault need only be supported at its four corners. Same as Double Barrel ceiling.
